postheadericon Deciding Between An Electric And A Gas- Powered Golf Cart

by Andrew Stevenson

We all know only too well from watching television that professional golfers walk and rarely, if ever, turn to a golf cart to take the weight off their feet. The amateur golfer however is not so keen on walking and golf carts are becoming an increasingly favored means on transport on the golf course.

Generally golf clubs have a few golf carts available for hire but, even if their rates are not too high, the cost of hiring a golf cart can soon mount up for the regular golfer. So, for regular golfers, the question of buying rather than renting a cart arises. Not only is this an option that will pay for itself over time, but it is also an option which will allow you to concentrate more on improving your golf, instead of worrying about your sore feet. With so many carts on the market today all you need to do is simply decide which cart most closely meets your list of requirements.

There are both electric and gas golf carts available today and, for the first-time buyer, we would certainly recommend that you first start by looking at electric golf carts. Electric models are easy to operate and maintain and it is no accident that they are by far and a way the most used type of golf cart on most courses today. Battery powered, you do not need to worry about finding a gas station and all you need is somewhere to park your cart when it is not is use which access to a wall socket to re-charge the battery. The effective range of most modern electric models is more than sufficient to play a round or two of golf as well as to transport you short distances to and from the course itself.

There are of course one or two drawbacks to the electric cart and one of those is the possibility of getting stranded out on the course because your battery has run flat. Even with advances in modern battery technology the electric golf cart does still suffer from a fairly restricted range. This is not generally a problem for normal use of the average golf course but it is certainly something you need to take into account if you are going to have to travel any reasonable distance.

One great advantage to owning your own golf cart, apart from the sheer convenience, is the fact that they are so easy to customize. From blinkers to decals, custom paint to windscreens, there is a wide product range available of parts and accessories for anyone that wants to leave a mark on the course.

If you are considering purchasing a golf cart then you should begin your search by looking at the many great electric carts available. Shopping around and doing a little bit of research before buying will allow you to find the perfect cart to fit both your lifestyle and needs.
