Just like everywhere else, it is always hard to find the right golf pro to help you improve you game. If you take Golf Lessons in Los Angeles you have the opportunity to learn the Mike Austin Golf swing. Developed, used, and taught by the late Dr. Mike Austin his swing system is in his own words, "the most efficient way to hit a golf ball.

The Mike Austin golf swing is designed to use each set of joints in the body in the most efficient way possible. They are used to swing the club effectively without putting any undue stress on the back, spine or any of the joints. Coordinating the safe and proper use of each joint creates a powerful and accurate swing.

Mike Austin had a degree in kinesiology, the study of human motion, which he then applied to the development of his swing method. Understanding all the muscles and joints in the body, and just how they are designed to work, Mike blended all the proper joint and muscle functions into the most effective way to hit a golf ball.

Mike was also well versed in physics, which also must be applied to this equation in order to get a perfect golf swing. Many engineers have studied the golf swing but the modeling they use does not properly understand how the human body fits into the equation. Mike had the advantage of expertise in both areas.

Mike was a maverick in many ways and he was particularly at odds with the PGA and the teaching methods they use. A classic example of his differing opinion is on the "conscious delaying of the release". Mike believes a conscious effort to delay the wrists is inaccurate. This is almost an axiom in golf to most teaching pros.

Mike believes the release is immediate from the start of the downswing. Most pros will say this is casting the club, but if you transfer your weight to the left properly you cannot cast the club and instead release it fully and freely. He eventually hooked players up an electromyography machine and verified this.

As much as almost all PGA pros would tell you, releasing the club early is wrong. Yet none other than Jack Nicklaus, the best golfer of all time, agreed with Mike. Nicklaus (who had a very Mike Austin type swing) has said "that as long as you properly shift your weight to the left on the downswing you CAN NOT RELEASE THE CLUB TOO EARLY". Strong words from the best golfer ever, confirming what Mike was trying to tell everyone.

Learning the basics of the mike Austin swing can be done quickly. With the basics you will soon be hitting the ball longer and more accurately, and your back and joints will thank you too.
